Massage Therapy Service

Massage therapy spans a wide variety of therapeutic approaches, which work to improve an individual’s health and well-being through the manipulation of muscles and other soft tissues of the body.  Massage therapy is designed to enhance blood flow to soft tissues and facilitate the removal of metabolic wastes from the muscle tissue.  For many, massage has the added benefits of reducing mental stress and reducing anxiety levels.  Massage is considered to be among the oldest of all treatments used by man.  Massage provides relief to people from all walks of life - the weekend or competitive athlete, the home gardener, or the overstressed executive struggling to keep pace in today’s economy.

Today, massage is an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs and has proven a benefit to many chronic conditions such as low back pain, arthritis, and carpal tunnel syndrome. 

“In Touch” Swedish massage sessions will be provided by Abbi Stiles, LMT, in full hour, half hour, and 15 minute sessions by appointment in a comfortable, quiet, relaxing atmosphere at the Jamestown YMCA. To book your appointment, contact Abbi Stiles (ext. 229) in Jamestown.

Hot Stone Massage Therapy allows your pain and stress to melt away!  During your Hot Stone Massage, you will pampered with aromatherapy oils and heated basalt stones.

Nautilus and Cardiovascular Center

New Year, new start!  This is the perfect time to start a new routine and do something for you!  The YMCA can help you increase your self-confidence, focus on a healthy lifestyle and set some attainable fitness goals for yourself!  

Both locations feature Nautilus machines, treadmills, elliptical machines, recumbent bikes, stair climbers, and rowing machines.  Jamestown offers a 2,300 square foot state-of-the-art Cardio Theatre and Nautilus.  Our free weight centers feature Hammerstrength equipment.  Hammerstrength equipment offers lifters a natural movement and functional strength.  Jamestown's 1,300 square foot center provides a complete weight lifting circuit while Lakewood YMCA's combined Nautilus / Cardio / Weight Room center allows easy access to all machines.

The YMCA offers a free fitness orientation for all YMCA members that will introduce you to our equipment and help you get started.  To make an appointment with one of our certified staff, please contact the Jamestown YMCA Front Desk at 664-2802 or Donna Garvey in Lakewood at 763-0303 (ext. 25).  Minimum age requirements: Nautilus - 14 years; Free Weights - 16 years.

A community-oriented medically supervised Wellness Program 
Everyone is welcome - first time exercisers, people rehabilitating from surgery or illness, people suffering with arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, and weight problems.  This class is under the direction of Connie Fahey, Registered Nurse, and Linda West, Registered Nurse. 

Sessions include:

         * Blood pressure and heart rate check
         * Warm-up and stretching
         * Cardiovascular 
         * Strength Training
         * Cool-down
         * Final blood pressure check

Women’s Strength Training

Zumba

You are sure to enjoy this high-energy, non-impact workout in our cycling room with beautiful landscaped murals and 9 ft high-definition video projection system that will take you from the Oregon Coast to islands in the Pacific!  Participants of all fitness levels will be energized and motivated by trained instructors, up beat music, and sweeping panoramic views.  Our 30-minute Lo-Rider class is designed for beginners to intermediate riders, and does not include any standing intervals.  If you are looking to get back into shape, it’s a great place to start! Our Early Bird, Crunchtime, Stressbuster, Ride It Out, Humpday, and Simply Cycle workouts will give you an incredibly challenging workout and plenty of motivation!

The YMCA Cycle Reebok program uses specially designed stationary bikes that allow you to personalize your workout and eliminates all the usual anxieties that may come from group exercise.   Cycle Reebok takes the boredom out of stationary biking so you work harder and go away feeling better about yourself.  Call the Jamestown Front Desk to reserve your Cycle Reebok bike today!

Adult Soccer League   All games are held at the Lakewood YMCA

Co-Ed Recreational Soccer League
The adult recreational soccer league is designed for players to get a great workout and develop soccer skills while having fun.  Play will be Thursday nights.  

Adult Power Soccer League
The power soccer league is for advanced indoor soccer players.  The league ends with a tournament.  Sign up as a team or individually for a draft.  Join the fast action of 6-on-6 power soccer!  Rotating game schedule.  Games are played on Sunday afternoons.  For more information, contact the Lakewood YMCA at (716) 763-0303.

Adult Volleyball Leagues

Co-Ed Recreational and Semi-Power Volleyball Leagues
The Co-Ed Recreational League is for those who enjoy some good, clean fun!  The Co-Ed Semi-Power League is for the slightly competitive volleyball players.  Each team must have 6 players with at least 2 women.  The leagues run for 11 weeks with 2 weeks for playoffs.  There are only 12 spaces available for Rec and 8 for Semi, so register early!  All registrations are made on a first come, first serve basis.  League begins in January.  Contact Donna at Lakewood for more information.

Co-Ed Power Volleyball League
This league is for the competitive volleyball player.  Power Volleyball rules will be applied.  Each team must have 6 players with at least 2 women.  The league will run for 11 weeks.  Only 8 spaces are available - sign up early!  Entries are made on a first come, first serve basis.  Contact Donna at Lakewood for more information.

Racquetball Leagues

Lakewood YMCA offers a variety of Racquetball Leagues. Leagues are played on weeknights and there are different skills levels available.  Call Lakewood for more information.   

Beginners Racquetball League/Clinic
The Lakewood YMCA will offer a 4-week instructional racquetball clinic/league on Monday evenings at 4:15 pm and 5:15 pm.  The clinic will be under the direction of Herb Rice, Lakewood YMCA's resident pro.
